Wispr, the company that makes Wispr Flow, has raised about $361 million in total 1. The largest piece is a $280 million Series B announced on August 17, 2026, at a $2 billion valuation, led by Menlo Ventures 2. Wispr makes its money from software subscriptions, and it has not said how many dollars of revenue it earns. This page is part of our guide to Wispr Flow: price, privacy and what users say, in our overview of dictation software.

The money came in four announcements over two years

Wispr's funding grew from a small launch round to a very large one in under two years. Here are the rounds Wispr or the press announced:

AnnouncedRoundAmountLead or named investors
September 2024New investment for the Flow launch$12 million 3Matt Kraning, with NEA, 8VC and others
June 2025Series A$30 million 4Menlo Ventures
November 2025Series A extension$25 million 5Notable Capital and Flight Fund
August 2026Series B$280 millionMenlo Ventures, with Notable Capital

By the November 2025 extension the company had raised $81 million in total, and TechCrunch's sources put its valuation at $700 million 6. The August 2026 Series B added $280 million, which brings the disclosed total to about $361 million. A trade report of the Series B gives the same total 7. Beyond Menlo Ventures, it names Notable Capital, NEA, Neo Ventures, 8VC and MVP Ventures as returning investors 8.

The four rows above do not add up to $81 million. Wispr raised money before Flow existed: it began as a plan for a device that lets people type by silently mouthing words, and its earlier funding was for that business 9. Those earlier rounds are in the $81 million total but not in the table.

The valuation rose from $700 million to $2 billion in nine months

Between November 2025 and August 2026, the reported valuation went from $700 million to $2 billion. Note the difference in sourcing. The first figure came from unnamed sources to TechCrunch. The second was announced by Wispr itself in its Series B post. Valuations are set by the investors in a private deal, so they are not a measure of what the company earns or of whether the app suits you.

Wispr earns money from subscriptions and says it grows fast

Wispr says its business model is selling software, not user data 10. The visible product is the paid plan: Flow is free with weekly word limits, and Pro costs $15 per user per month 11. Teams and enterprises pay on separate plans. Our guide lists every plan and limit, and the question on whether Wispr Flow is free covers the free tier.

On revenue, the only company statement is about growth. Wispr said its revenue increased by more than 150% in each of the past four quarters 12. That is a rate, not an amount. You may find dollar estimates on data-aggregator sites, but they differ widely and none is confirmed by Wispr, so we do not repeat them.

The new money is aimed at accuracy and a speech model of its own

Wispr's CEO wrote that accuracy is where the first and largest part of the round is going 13. The same post announced a preview of Wispr's first proprietary speech model. The company claims it cuts word errors in the hardest conditions, such as wind or music, from more than 30% of words to between 5 and 10% 14. That is a vendor claim about a preview, not an independent test.

What the funding means for you

It depends on what you want to know.

  • Will the app last? A well-funded company is less likely to shut down soon, which matters if you build a daily habit or pay for a team. Funding does not guarantee any product stays or keeps its price.
  • Is it safe with my voice? Funding says nothing about privacy. Wispr transcribes in the cloud, and its data settings start switched on. Read whether Wispr Flow is safe to use and the glossary entry on cloud dictation.
  • Is it worth the price? Investor enthusiasm does not make it better for you. See whether Wispr Flow is worth it, and test the free plan first.
  • Do you need offline dictation? Flow has none. Our answer on whether Wispr Flow works offline lists alternatives, including on-device speech recognition.

If you want a Wispr Flow alternative that runs on your own computer, Yap, which we make, is one: see our comparison page. For a different problem, a Flow that is misbehaving, see why Wispr Flow is not working.

What we could not confirm

Wispr has not published dollar revenue, profit or user-count audits. The $361 million total is our sum of the $81 million total reported in November 2025 and the $280 million Series B, and a trade report states the same total. We read the figures on October 27, 2026. A later round or valuation change would not appear here until we update the page.
