For Windows 10 and 11 · On your PC
VoiceInk for Windows? Here is the same idea on a PC.
VoiceInk is made for Mac and iPhone, and there is no Windows version. Yap for Windows works the way you would hope: hold Ctrl + Win in any app, speak, release, and your words are typed at the cursor. Speech is recognized on your PC and never uploaded.
Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit · 116 MB. $6.90 USD/month or $69 USD/year. 3 days free, no account or card, then a 10-day trial with a card.
What carries over from VoiceInk.
Any app, one shortcut.
An email, a chat, a document or a browser form. The text lands where your cursor is, and your clipboard is not touched.
Local recognition.
VoiceInk says: “VoiceInk processes all voice transcription locally on your device.” Yap works the same way on Windows: your recordings are not uploaded or kept.
No language switching.
25 languages, heard per recording: English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Ukrainian, Croatian, Slovenian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Estonian, Finnish, Swedish, Danish, Dutch, Polish, Czech, Slovak, Hungarian, Romanian, Bulgarian, Greek, and Maltese. For longer thoughts, press Space while holding the keys to keep recording hands-free.

Yap fits better when
you dictate on a Windows PC, or on a Mac and a PC with one subscription, and you want plain dictation with no AI rewriting step.
Questions.
- Is there a VoiceInk for Windows?
- No. VoiceInk is made by Pax, an independent developer for Mac and iPhone. Its own site lists only Apple Silicon Macs with macOS 14.4 or later, and an iPhone app (checked Oct 16, 2026).
- Can I build VoiceInk for Windows from its source code?
- Its code is public under the GNU General Public License v3.0, but it is a macOS app written in Swift, so it does not run on Windows. Building a Windows version would mean writing a new app.
- What does Yap for Windows do?
- The same core job: place your cursor in any app, hold Ctrl + Win, speak and release, and your words are typed there with punctuation. Recognition runs on your PC with NVIDIA’s Parakeet model, in 25 languages detected from your voice.
- Is my voice uploaded?
- No. Yap recognizes speech on your PC and does not upload or keep your recordings. Finished text stays in a local History, where you can copy or delete it.
- Does it work offline?
- Yes, once the speech model has downloaded, during your free days, trial or subscription. Offline use lasts up to 24 hours after each successful access check.
- How is the price different from VoiceInk?
- VoiceInk is a one-time purchase with lifetime updates and a 14-day money-back guarantee: $25 for one Mac, $39 for 2 Macs, and $49 for 3 Macs. Yap is a subscription: $6.90 USD a month or $69 USD a year after 3 free days with no account or card and a 10-day trial with a card. One Yap subscription covers every Mac and Windows PC you connect.
- Is there something free built into Windows?
- Yes. Voice typing (Windows + H) is free and, in Microsoft’s words, “uses online speech recognition, which is powered by Azure Speech services”, so your speech goes online. Voice access, on Windows 11, version 22H2 and later, works without an internet connection and is built mainly for controlling your PC by voice.
