Hushbird Privacy
PSYT LLC (Hushbird), 2026
Read the originalRead on October 26, 2026
- What it is
- The privacy policy of Hushbird, made by PSYT LLC. It says the Mac app transcribes speech and generates its reading voice on the Mac, that audio is never uploaded or stored on the maker's servers, and that the iPhone app is free.
- How much weight it carries
- The maker's own privacy policy, dated 14 July 2026 on the page and read in October 2026. It is a statement of practice by the maker, not an audit. The page separately discloses that its website demo is cloud-based and is not the app.
Facts taken from this source
- Hushbird's privacy page says the audio of dictation in its Mac app is never uploaded, never stored on the company's servers, and never sent to any third party.
“Your audio is never uploaded, never stored on our servers, and never sent to any third party.” (Your dictation stays on your Mac)
- Hushbird's privacy page says the dictation history is a file on the user's Mac and nowhere else, and that it is removed when the app is deleted.
“Your dictation history lives in a file on your Mac and nowhere else. If you delete the app, it goes with it.” (The short version)
- Hushbird's privacy page says its iPhone app uploads no audio, and discards the recording once the note is written.
“There is no analytics, no advertising, and no server of ours that it talks to. ... No audio is uploaded, and the recording is discarded once the note is written.” (Hushbird on iPhone)
- Hushbird's privacy page says notes stay on the iPhone until the user sends them, and are removed from the phone once the Mac confirms it has them. Sending goes directly between the two devices and does not pass through the company.
“Notes live on the iPhone until you send them, and are removed from it once your Mac confirms it has them. ... It does not pass through us, and there is nothing for us to see.” (Hushbird on iPhone)
- Hushbird's privacy page says that a microphone clip from the try-it demo on its website is sent to the cloud speech service ElevenLabs to be transcribed, and that Hushbird does not store those clips.
“If you click the microphone in the demo on our home page, that clip is sent to a cloud speech service (ElevenLabs) to transcribe, because a browser is not your Mac. ... Those clips are not stored by us.” (The one exception, stated plainly)
