WhisPaste Privacy Policy
WhisPaste (Silvio Lindstedt and Maik Gräfendorf, GbR), 2026
Read the originalRead on October 26, 2026
- What it is
- The privacy policy for WhisPaste, effective October 2026. It says speech is processed on the user's computer by default, that cloud audio goes directly to a provider the user chooses, and that Smart Mode through OpenAI sends transcribed text only when selected.
- How much weight it carries
- The maker's own legal page, read 2026-10-26. It names the data controller and the providers. It does not name model training, so the training row rests on the statement that audio does not leave the device to the maker.
Facts taken from this source
- WhisPaste's privacy policy says audio stays on the user's device unless the user chooses a cloud service, so the maker does not receive recordings.
“Your audio and transcribed text never leave your device unless you explicitly choose a cloud service for transcription or for Smart Mode.” (Core Principle section)
- WhisPaste's privacy policy says transcribed text goes to OpenAI when the user chooses it for Smart Mode, using the user's own API key.
“If you choose OpenAI as the Smart Mode service, the transcribed text and the selected preset's instructions are sent directly to OpenAI using your own OpenAI API key.” (Smart Mode section)
- WhisPaste's privacy policy says transcribed text is stored locally on your device, and that you can delete your transcription history at any time. It gives no fixed number of days.
“Transcribed text is stored locally on your device in an SQLite database ... You can view, search, export, and delete your transcription history at any time through the application.” (Section 8, Transcription History)
