- Read
- October 19, 2026, and again every week
- What it measures
- Apple counts ratings per storefront: the number is the ratings left in that country's store for the app's current listing, not downloads or users.
- How it is measured
- Every app in our market registry that has an App Store or Mac App Store id is looked up with Apple's public lookup API (https://itunes.apple.com/lookup?id=<id>&country=<cc>) in six storefronts (US, UK, Germany, France, Japan, Brazil) once a week. We record the rating count (userRatingCount) and the average rating (averageUserRating) exactly as the API returns them, and keep every weekly reading.
- What it does not show
- Ratings are a fraction of downloads and depend on how often an app asks for one. Apple can reset an app's ratings when a new version ships, and the API rounds nothing but can lag the store page by a day.
