Open the original- What it measures
- The policy says that when a user chooses an AI feature, speech-to-text transcripts or other submitted text go to OpenAI's API for summaries and responses. It says OpenAI is not permitted to use this API data to train its models. Deletion requests are handled by email.
- What it does not show
- The 365 days is a ceiling ('up to') for AI-processed data, not a fixed deletion date. The longer-period exceptions cover security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution and legal compliance. The policy says OpenAI's own API retention rules apply to data it holds, and does not state its own rule for audio. It does not say whether audio itself is kept.
