What it is: OpenAI's own list of API model deprecations and removal dates. Its 'Transcription models' entry, dated August 26, 2026, says OpenAI notified developers that whisper-1, gpt-4o-transcribe, gpt-4o-mini-transcribe and gpt-4o-transcribe-diarize will be removed from the API on February 26, 2027.
How much weight it carries: The publisher's own page, read live on October 25, 2026. It is an official dated list, so the notice and removal dates are as OpenAI states them. The page is edited as new deprecations are added, so a later revision could change an entry.
