- What it is
- The privacy policy of MimicScribe, a macOS meeting and dictation app, last updated October 19, 2026. It says meeting audio is kept until you choose a retention period of 14, 30 or 90 days, that transcripts are deleted with their meeting, and that voiceprints stay on the Mac. For its optional cloud AI, it says transcript text sent through its proxy is not stored.
- How much weight it carries
- The company's own policy, read on the access date. It describes the app's defaults and the company's own servers. Text sent to a custom endpoint or a local model is outside its control, as the policy itself says. Policies are written by the company and can change.
