- What it is
- A 1993 prospective study that randomly assigned 32 people with idiopathic carpal tunnel syndrome to pyridoxine (vitamin B6) or placebo and compared nerve tests, clinical signs and symptoms.
- How much weight it carries
- Small placebo-controlled trial of 32 people. Its authors found no benefit. Its size limits how precisely it can exclude a small effect, and we found no larger controlled trial in our search.
Facts taken from this source
- A 1993 randomised trial of 32 people with carpal tunnel syndrome found no difference between pyridoxine and placebo in nerve tests, clinical signs or significant symptoms.
“Thirty-two patients with the disease were randomized to receive treatment or placebo. No differences in outcome were found in electrophysiologic signs, clinical signs, or significant symptoms.” (Abstract)
