Voice to text not working in either web or app (OpenAI Developer Community, April 2025)

- What it is
- A user forum thread from April 2025 in which people report that ChatGPT dictation registered nothing in Chrome or in the Android app.
- How much weight it carries
- User reports, not OpenAI statements. Useful for the kinds of failure people hit, but it is anecdotal and from 2025, before the 2026 dictation changes. The URL is the thread's own JSON data, because the normal page loads its posts with JavaScript and the text is not in the HTML we could read.
Facts taken from this source
- In an April 2025 OpenAI community post, a user reported that ChatGPT dictation registered nothing in Chrome and, in the Android app, heard the voice but delivered no text.
“On Chrome, nothing seems to register at all. ... On the app, it listens, registers voice, but then never delivers anything to text.” (Original post, April 28, 2025)
