dictation.cc, the ChromeOS Dictation C++ source (Chromium)
Chromium Project (Google), undated

- What it is
- The C++ source file that builds ChromeOS Dictation's list of speech locales. It lists the locales that use online recognition and adds the locales that the on-device speech installer reports as available offline.
- How much weight it carries
- Primary source code, so it shows how the software decides which languages can run offline. It is a snapshot at one commit with no date, it is written for developers, and it does not say which packs a given Chromebook has downloaded.
Facts taken from this source
- Chromium's source code comments that the languages in its ChromeOS Dictation speech list are, by default, not supported offline. Offline languages are added only when the on-device speech installer reports them as available.
“By default these languages are not supported offline.” (Dictation::GetAllSupportedLocales)
