Fact · Dictation in your apps
Microsoft's Dictate in Word article lists Word 2019 and Word 2016 in its Applies To list, although its troubleshooting says Dictate is not available in Office 2016 or 2019 for Windows without Microsoft 365.

Open the original- What it measures
- This is a conflict inside one Microsoft article. The Applies To list describes the versions the article covers. The troubleshooting section sets the condition for the Windows versions.
- What it does not show
- Read together, the two parts suggest that Office 2016 and 2019 for Windows need a Microsoft 365 subscription for Dictate. Microsoft does not state this in one sentence. The Applies To list also names Word 2024 and Word 2021 without a subscription condition, so the list alone does not show which one-time versions work.
