How to Fix Dictation Not Working on Mac, Guiding Tech, 2026, Fix 4: Remove Speech Recognition Preference Files.

Open the original
What it measures
The guide describes these as application settings files stored in the Preferences folder. Macs recreate them after a restart.
What it does not show
The guide gives no evidence that deleting these files fixes a failure. Deleting settings also removes any custom choices the user made, so this is a last resort, not a first step.
