What it measures
The same GOV.UK page lists non-medical helpers, such as British Sign Language interpreters and specialist note takers, and travel to and from the course, and says that DSA does not cover costs you would have as any student. Equipment is provided after a needs assessment.
What it does not show
The page says the amount and type of support depend on individual needs, and it says you should not buy equipment before your assessment because you will not be reimbursed. The page describes England's scheme for higher education students; other UK nations run their own schemes.
