Web Speech API - Speech Recognition (Mozilla wiki, FAQ)

- What it is
- Mozilla's internal wiki page on bringing the Web Speech API to Firefox. Its FAQ says Mozilla asks Google not to store its voice requests, and contrasts this with speech sent from Chrome, whose recordings it says can be saved and attached to a profile.
- How much weight it carries
- A statement by a competing browser vendor about how Chrome handles speech, written for its own planning. It is the most direct statement we found that names Google, but Google's own documentation on this was not found, so treat it as one vendor's account.
Facts taken from this source
- Mozilla's wiki says that speech input from Chrome can be saved and attached to a user's profile, which its own requests sent to Google are not.
“We opt-out of allowing Google to store our voice requests. This means, unlike when a user inputs speech using Chrome, their recordings are not saved and can not be attached to their profile and saved indefinitely.” (FAQ, question 1.1.10 and answer)
