- What it is
- The project's own README for Monkeytype, the open-source online typing test. It describes what the test is for and the feedback it gives while you type.
- How much weight it carries
- Written by the project's developers, so it describes intent and features rather than measured results. It does not give the scoring rules, which are in the source files cited separately.
Facts taken from this source
- Monkeytype describes itself as a typing test that shows real-time feedback on typos, speed and accuracy while you type.
“Monkeytype attempts to emulate a natural typing experience during a typing test by unobtrusively presenting the text prompts and displaying typed characters in place, providing straightforward, real-time feedback on typos, speed, and accuracy.” (About)
