- What it is
- The official English text of the EU Artificial Intelligence Act, in Article 3, which defines an AI system as a machine-based system that infers from its input how to generate outputs such as predictions, content, recommendations or decisions. It is the EU's legal definition of an AI system.
- How much weight it carries
- Binding legal text published in the Official Journal, so it is the authoritative wording. The definition applies for the purposes of this regulation. Other laws, standards and vendors use other definitions, so it does not settle the question for every purpose.
