Facts taken from this source
- CBSE calculates accuracy as net words per minute multiplied by 100 and divided by gross words per minute.
“Accuracy of content is calculated as: NWPM*100/GWPM” (Parameters)
- In the CBSE worked example, a candidate who typed 521 words in 10 minutes has a gross speed of 52.1 words per minute.
“Gross words per Minute (GWPM) = 521/10 = 52.1 words per minute” (Sample Illustrations, Candidate D)
- CBSE's net words are the correct words typed, so incorrect words earn nothing in the net score.
“Net Words is calculated as: Correct Words” (Parameters)
- In the same CBSE example, net speed is 40.1 words per minute, because only 401 of the 521 words typed were correct.
“Net words per Minute (NWPM) = 401/10 = 40.1 words per minute” (Sample Illustrations, Candidate D)
- CBSE's typing test sets its merit criterion at 30 words per minute for Hindi.
