Use real-time caller authentication with Voice ID in Connect Customer
Amazon Web Services, Amazon Connect Customer Administrator Guide, 2026
Read the originalRead on October 17, 2026
- What it is
- The administrator guide to Amazon Connect Customer Voice ID. It explains how a caller is enrolled, how much speech enrollment and verification need, how a voiceprint is compared with the one enrolled for the claimed identity, and what data is stored.
- How much weight it carries
- The vendor's own documentation for one commercial product, which AWS has since retired (see the end-of-support page). It describes how that product worked, not how all voice security systems work, and it gives no error rates. Useful for the sequence of enrollment, verification and the amounts of speech required.
Facts taken from this source
- Amazon Connect Voice ID generates a voiceprint from the caller's audio, compares it with the enrolled voiceprint for the identity the caller claims, and returns an authentication result.
“compares it with the enrolled voiceprint corresponding to the claimed identity, and returns an authentication result” (How Voice ID works: Customer authentication)
- Amazon Connect Voice ID needs 30 seconds of customer speech, excluding silence, before it can create a voiceprint and enroll the customer.
“This is 30 seconds of customer speech, excluding silence” (How Voice ID works: Customer enrollment)
- Amazon Connect Voice ID does not ask an enrolling caller to repeat a particular word or phrase.
“The caller does not need to say or repeat any specific phrases to enroll in Voice ID” (How Voice ID works: Customer enrollment)
- In Amazon Connect Voice ID, voice spoofing scores are not returned when only speaker authentication is enabled.
“Voice spoofing scores are not returned when only speaker authentication is enabled” (Voice spoofing detection)
