Apple Support (iPad User Guide), 2026
Read the originalRead on October 17, 2026
- What it is
- Apple's guide to Scribble, which turns Apple Pencil handwriting into typed text in any text field on supported iPads, and how to correct it.
- How much weight it carries
- Apple's own iPad User Guide. It is the authority on how Scribble works and which models support it. It is about handwriting, not speech, so it is a tablet input method that sits beside dictation.
Facts taken from this source
- Apple says Scribble converts handwriting to text on the iPad itself, so the writing stays private.
“Scribble converts your handwriting to text directly on your iPad, so your writing stays private.” (Opening section)
