Journal on the App Store
Apple, Apple App Store, 2026
Read the originalRead on October 17, 2026
- What it is
- Apple's App Store listing for the Journal app for iPhone, iPad and Mac. It describes voice recording with automatic transcription, passcode and biometric locking, and iCloud backup of entries.
- How much weight it carries
- Written by the app's publisher, so it describes features and not limits. It does not say whether the transcription runs on the device or on a server, so that point needs a test with the network turned off.
Facts taken from this source
- Apple says Journal stores your entries in iCloud, where they are backed up automatically.
“Store your entries safely in iCloud so they’re automatically backed up.” (Product description, section on keeping the journal private)
- Apple says the Journal app lets you record your voice directly into a journal entry and have it transcribed automatically.
