In the source's own words
“Typing, window searching, and many other functions of xdotool do not work, and it is unclear if they could ever work.”

Open the original- What it measures
- xdotool sends input through X11. On a Wayland session the README says it does not work reliably, so the session type decides which typing tool to use.
- What it does not show
- The README describes xdotool, not the whole Linux input stack. Other tools can still type on Wayland, as the next sections show.
