- whisper.cpp runs OpenAI's Whisper model on the device, including on Apple silicon Macs. Many open-source Mac transcription apps use it as their engine.

- The license covers the whisper.cpp code. Each app built on it has its own license, so check that app's LICENSE file before you assume it is open source.
