What it measures
The author argues that the game elements motivated participation, and that more participation led to the gains in speed and accuracy reported for the same group.
What it does not show
Engagement and time on computers were measured in one small, non-randomized study. More time practicing is not the same as more accurate practice, so the link to better typing is the author's interpretation.
