Open the original (DOI 10.3233/WOR-2011-1156)- What it measures
- All 148 keyboard operators were referred to a nerve testing laboratory for suspected focal nerve problems in the upper limbs, mostly by private practice physicians, many of them hand surgeons, and an occupational medicine clinic. Each underwent nerve conduction studies of the upper limbs, including the ulnar nerve.
- What it does not show
- The people studied were referred patients with suspected nerve problems, not a random sample of typists, so the figure does not give the share of all keyboard users with elbow symptoms. The study does not measure how much or how long each person typed.
