Just Speak It: Minimize Cognitive Load for Eyes-Free Text Editing with a Smart Voice Assistant, Jiayue Fan et al., Proceedings of UIST 2021, ACM Symposium on User Interface Software and Technology, 2021, Abstract.
Open the original (DOI 10.1145/3472749.3474795)- What it measures
- The comparison is between revision strategies for eyes-free voice editing. Descriptive commands are phrases such as change bat to cat.
- What it does not show
- Eyes-free phone assistant with earphone buttons, not desktop dictation. The figure compares voice strategies with each other and does not measure keyboard editing. Section 5.6.2 reports average failure rates of 0.094 for SmartEdit, 0.234 for descriptive commands and 0.205 for re-speaking, so the 54.1 percent figure matches the re-speaking comparison.
