- What it measures
- Assumes the whole transcript goes through the model once and the model returns the same length. The prompt itself adds a few hundred tokens, which is small by comparison. Using two tokens per word instead of 1.3 gives about 0.011 dollars.
- How it is calculated
- 150 words per minute x 60 = 9,000 words; assumed 1.3 tokens per word (an assumption, not a sourced figure) = 11,700 tokens in and 11,700 tokens out; 11,700 x 0.10 / 1,000,000 + 11,700 x 0.50 / 1,000,000 = 0.0070 dollars
Calculated from
- Brysbaert uses 150 words per minute as the speech rate in his argument that the language system can take in about 300 words per minute.
- Anthropic lists Claude Haiku 5.5 at $0.10 per million input tokens for prompts up to 100,000 tokens.
- Anthropic lists Claude Haiku 5.5 at $0.50 per million output tokens.
