What it measures
A descriptive cross-sectional study of 105 patients who had open release. The authors define persistent symptoms as those that continue after surgery, and recurrent symptoms as those that return at least three months after surgery. Most patients had severe carpal tunnel syndrome before surgery.
What it does not show
Single centre and cross-sectional, with no comparison group, so the figure is an estimate from one clinic. It applies to open release only, not to endoscopic release.
