What it measures
Apple's glossary entry. The same entry says that to see whether a Mac has an Apple silicon chip, you choose Apple menu, then About This Mac, and a listed chip such as Apple M2 means the Mac has Apple silicon.
What it does not show
The definition only. It does not list which models use Apple silicon or what each chip can do; Apple's list of Mac models is a separate source.
