In the source's own words

“AAERT will adjust the CET Practical Exam passing score from 98% to 95%, effective for exams taken on or after March 26, 2026.”

CET Practical Exam Passing Score Change, Effective March 26, 2026, American Association of Electronic Reporters and Transcribers (AAERT), 2026, CET Practical Exam Passing Score Change.

What it measures: The announcement says AAERT made the change after a psychometric review and consultation with current and prospective CETs and employers. It says the old score exceeded that of any comparable industry exam.
What it does not show: Older sources and study guides still quote 98 percent, which applies to exams taken before the change. The announcement's reasoning is AAERT's own and is not supported by published data on the page.
